How can "the West" help developing nations? Should it at all? Will it do more harm than good? What happens when it fails to act? What happens when it over-reacts? (Isn't it more honest to say "we" for "the West"?) Can "we" solve major regional conflicts? Is it all hopeless?

These are some of the questions I've been pondering after reading and watching some upsetting things over the last few weeks.
