It has a three stranded plot; the suicide of a policeman linked to the activities of a group of paedophiles, the appearance of a newly released serial killer in Edinburgh and the disappearance of a teenage male related to an ex girlfriend of Rebus. Rebus gets enmeshed in all three of these plot lines and the result is an entertaining read with more incident than is usually found in this series of books.
